IMPERIAL launched the I-Pledge road safety campaign on 8 November 2011 to make South Africa’s roads safer and friendlier. South Africa is facing a seemingly insurmountable challenge when it comes to entrenching a culture of safe, educated and courteous road use and automotive and logistics group IMPERIAL truly believes that for any change to happen and to be sustainable, there needs to a personal attitude and behaviour shift in the hearts and minds of people using the roads every day – be they pedestrians, bus and truck drivers, motorists, cyclists or bikers.

SARF elects first woman President (Logashri Sewnarain) at AGM function in KZN
"Firstly, let me take this opportunity to thank Council and the members for my appointment. This appointment, whilst very exciting, is also a very daunting task. I say daunting because as one of my colleagues pointed out to me fairly recently - young lady you do realize that you have very big shoes to fill. By that, I assume the reference was to the various past presidents. I had the pleasure of being a member of Council whilst John Sampson, Collin Tichauer; Paul Nordengen, Chris Hlabisa and Mutshutshu Nxumalo were Presidents, and of course interacting with Dr Malcolm Mitchell and the council who are without a doubt some of the most knowledgeable and impressive people I have ever met. But let me just say that I am not able to fill those shoes because let’s face it, I have much smaller feet and much prettier shoes!"
