(Alexandria, VA) – The International Road Federation
(IRF) announced the winners of the 2006 Global Road Achievement

Building on the success of the record-breaking 2005 competition,
this year saw the program expand again this year by 20 percent.
The increase in submissions and worldwide involvement in
the program is a sign the road-development industry is gaining
recognition for its positive impact, said Patrick Sankey,
Director General & CEO, IRF-Washington.
"Everyone, not just those of us in the road industry,
should know about these projects and the benefits they bring
to our economies and quality of life," said Sankey.
"It's the main reason IRF started this Awards Program
and it's satisfying to see it grow. We look forward to it
growing even greater in the years to come."
The 2006 GRAAs will be presented during an awards luncheon
on Aug. 1 as a part of the IRF 2006 Summer Meeting in St.
Petersburg, Fla.
